About Treadmills and Purpose of their Use
A treadmill is a sports equipment mainly used indoor for achieving motion of walking or running, generally intended for exercise, sports training or medical purpose.
Treadmills allow us to do walking or running activities while staying in one place and thus their use make it more convenient to walk or run indoors.
Advantages of Using Treadmills
Convenience of Indoor
Weather, outdoor surface or neighborhood is not always suitable or safe for walking or running. Treadmill provides a convenient way to regularly exercise indoor in all weather conditions in the comfort and safety of our own home or at gym.
Low Impact on Joints
Treadmill running and walking surfaces are typically padded platforms to facilitate low-impact walk or jog.
Some outdoor surfaces like concrete or tar may produce harsh contact, but treadmills with padded platforms are much easier on sensitive joints like the knees and hips.
Monitoring Workout
Many treadmill models are equipped with dashboard with monitors, controls and programs to set or determine speed, distance, workout time, incline level, calories burnt, heart rate.
Multi-Tasking
You can read a magazine or watch television while walking on treadmill as some treadmill models are equipped with these facilities.
