Halloween is a tradition celebrated on the night of October 31, most commonly in USA, Canada and Ireland.
It is said that halloween has originated from celtic rituals in Ireland thousand of year ago.
Nineteenth century immigrants from Ireland are believed to have transposrted versions of the festival to North America.
Halloween customs and traditions appear to have changed over time.
Common traditional activities done as part of celebration of modern day halloween include
Kids in costumes going door to door doing 'Trick or Treat'
Hosting and attending fun costume parties, Bobbing of apples
Pumpkin carving, Carving 'Jack-o-lantern'
Decorating home and yards with spooky themes
Bonfires
Ghost tours, going to haunted house, listening to halloween music, reading scary stories, watching horror films as Halloween has traditionally been associated with images of scary things, spirits and spooks like witches, ghosts.
Trick or Treat
On or around Halloween children proceed from house to house in costumes asking residents ‘Trick or Treat?’, suggesting that they offer the children a Treat ( such as candies, fruits, nuts, gifts ) or the children will play a Trick on them.
Most adults do plan and purchase treats for neighborhood children doing ‘Trick or Treat’.
Countries observing Halloween
Halloween celebration appear to be most common in USA, Canada and Ireland. It is reported that it is also celebrated in countries like United Kingdom, Puerto Rico and New Zealand.
